This item is crafted from seeds derived from the Bodhi tree. Known as Buddha Chitta, Japa Mala, Phrengba, or Boddha Chitta, these are sacred beads in Buddhism. The term "Buddha Chitta" combines "Buddha," meaning enlightenment, and "Chitta," meaning soul, thus signifying the enlightenment of the soul—or in other words, the mastery of the mind. Buddha Chitta prayer beads trace their origins to Bodhisattva Guru Padma Sambhawa, also referred to as Guru Rinpoche in Tibetan. Guru Padma Sambhawa, who introduced Vajrayana, a branch of Mahayana Buddhism, greatly influenced regions like Nepal, Tibet, China, and Bhutan. While on a meditation retreat in Tongsum Tunda Cave, located in Timal City, Kavrepalanchowk district of Nepal, Guru Padma Sambhawa blessed the area with Buddha Chitta Mala, leaving behind seeds as a legacy for future prosperity.
